St Mawes Surrounding Areas

The Roseland Peninsula, with St Mawes at its tip, is a wonderful destination for your Cornish holiday. We have self catering accommodation in most of the charming villages on the peninsula, the main of which are Portscatho, Veryan, Portloe and Philleigh.

Portscatho is a pretty fishing village having lovely views across Gerrans Bay. The village is a very popular destination for holiday makers and boasts a good range of facilities including butcher, baker, convenience store, art galleries, restaurant and pub.

Gerrans stands at the top of the hill above Portscatho and boasts a good real ale pub, estate agent, heritage centre, a popular tea room and a garage/filling station.

Veryan is a popular village with a strong community spirit, a good pub, post office and even a village green and duck pond. Amazingly about a third of the boundary of the parish is sea! There are a good number of lovely walks suitable for all abilities.

Philleigh stands in the centre of the Roseland peninsula and has the benefit of a very popular pub that offers good food, and real ale produced on the premises.

Within easy reach of St Mawes and the Roseland peninsula are a good number of attractions including The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. The King Harry Ferry will take you and your car across the Fal River to Truro, Falmouth, The Lizard peninsula and further west to Lands End.

This part of Cornwall offers something for everyone no matter what their interests - all in all a great holiday destination.
